Editing

Fundamentals of Editing-Task#1

In the post-production process of film editing and video editing, a cut is an abrupt, but usually trivial film transition from one sequence to another. It is synonymous with the term edit, though "edit" can imply any number of transitions or effects. The cut, dissolve, and wipe serve as the three primary transitions.

TYPES OF CUTS:

There are several types of cuts, including:

1:   MATCH CUT: match cut transitions from one shot to the next but retains shot composition. Similar shapes, sounds, outlines, or actions create a seamless transition between scenes.

2: CUT AWAY SHOT CUT:The cutaway shot cuts away from the primary subject to a B-roll shot and then returns to the original scene

3:CROSS CUT:The cross-cut happens any time that one scene is intercut with another. It can depict different time periods or the same timeframe across different actions—also known as parallel editing

4:JUMP CUT:a film editing technique where a segment of footage is removed from a continuous shot, creating a noticeable jump in the action

5:L CUT is a split edit technique in which the audio from one clip visually forms a "L" shape on the timeline by overlapping the video of the subsequent clip.

6. Straight cut: A shot that switches between shots without any consequences

.Jump Cut

–A cut within the same shot or scene that jumps forward in time, often used to show time passing or create a jarring effect.

Jump cut: I used fashion's shoot clip to show jump cut . I just simply jumped few seconds of clip and created a jump cut

J-Cut ;Audio transitions where sound from the next (or previous) scene starts before the video changes (L-cut) or lingers after (J-cut).

J cut: I used my documentary clips and I transits the sound of next scene before the visual started

Cross-Cut :Cutting between two separate actions happening at the same time in different locations.

Cross cut: I used my documentary footage and showed two scene 1 training of fighters and in scene 2  at the same time but different location one fighter was having a fight

Cutaway : A cut to something outside the main action, often used to show reactions or add context.

Cut away: I used my car video and used the outdoor highway sequence to show more details to add context

Re-creating Lucifer's opening scene from season one

Sound is essential for everyday living since it facilitates communication, helps us comprehend our environment, and even affects our mental state. It also enables us to communicate, receive information, and recognize possible threats. Additionally, sound is essential for entertainment, education, etc.

step #1 Analysis: In order to comprehend the characters' movements and rhythm, I closely watched the scene. I chose the sound layers and positioned them in relation to the scene after I had a clear idea of what needed to be done.

sounds:
city noise: since the scenario was filmed outdoors on public highways, city noise was used. The sound of a tire screeching was the sound of Lucifer's ancient, vintage Chevy as he drove quickly. After Lucifer's automobile took a sharp bend and a police officer chased him on a Kawasaki bike while it was sirening, he was stopped.

 Fundamentals of Editing-Task#4:

Redesign of a Storyline: Half Cooked

I edited a clip from my instructor's film, Half Cooked, for my assignment. I received the shot footage, the screenplay, and individual audio files. It was my responsibility to combine all of these components into a coherent storyline.

The Editing Procedure

Examining the Content: In order to comprehend the scene's organization and flow, I began by going over the screenplay, the video, and the audio files.

Assuring continuity and correct sequencing, I placed the shots on the timeline in accordance with the script.

Audio Syncing: I took care to match the sound effects and conversation to the appropriate images.

I was able to produce a finished sequence that successfully communicated the desired narrative and feelings by fusing all of these components.
